With the pealing of the College bells for five minutes at 7 am this morning President Joanne Creighton has declared today this year's Mountain Day, an academic holiday at the College. Mountain Day is the College's oldest tradition, dating back to 1838, one year after the College's founding.

Members of the Mount Holyoke community are invited to scale to the Summit House atop Mount Holyoke for ice cream, which will be served starting at noon. Ice cream will also be served on campus outside Blanchard Campus Center at noon. From 9 am until 3 pm, shuttle buses will run from Blanchard Circle to the top of Mount Holyoke and back.

Watch the News and Events page today for more Mountain Day coverage.
