Rock out with the Young@Heart Chorus in a special “dance party” engagement in Chapin Auditorium Sunday, November 1, at 4 pm.
The Young@Heart Chorus is a locally based and world-renowned performance group sprung from a senior citizen’s home singing activity. As chronicled in the Fox Searchlight feature documentary Young@Heart, they now tour the world, transforming audiences with their renditions of modern rock songs ranging from Dylan, Hendrix, Queen, and Springsteen to Allen Toussaint, Outkast, and the Flaming Lips. The age of chorus members ranges from 73 to 89, so expect the unexpected as the Young@Heart Chorus brings new depth, authenticity, and humor to music they once might have asked their children or grandchildren to turn down.
This performance features special guests Nate Fuller and the Dukes, a Pioneer Valley Performing Arts School phenomena, and Valley favorite rockers, Unit7. A special dance floor section will be available.
All proceeds from this event benefit Hospice of the Fisher Home, a residential home in North Amherst offering compassionate care to people in the final months of life. Mount Holyoke College is proud to sponsor this event and has a special limited consignment of complimentary tickets for students, faculty, and staff.
Tickets may be picked up with an MHC ID at the Office of Student Programs, Blanchard Campus Center, Room 327, Monday-Friday, 9 am-4:30 pm, starting Wednesday October 14. Each MHC student, staff, or faculty is entitled to one free ticket, while supplies last. An additional guest ticket may be purchased at the discounted rate of $10. General public tickets are $20. Due to the popularity of the Young@Heart Chorus, we expect this event to sell out rapidly.
