The eighth annual Art@Work exhibition, featuring the work of Mount Holyoke staff, will open November 30 and run through December 11 in the Marion Craig Potter '49 Atrium in Kendade Science Center.

"Mount Holyoke staff members are phenomenal in their jobs, and this exhibit gives us an opportunity to share just how talented they are outside of their jobs," said Shelley Richard, chair of Art@Work. “Eight years ago I wasn’t thinking about the longevity of the art show--more about getting it off the ground and hoping it was successful. I’m pretty amazed that we will be setting up our eighth show.”

Richard, assistant to the vice president for finance and administration, is thrilled that the show has become an annual tradition and is grateful for the continued support of President Joanne V. Creighton. “I want to recognize President Creighton’s support,” Richard said. “She’s been behind us from the get-go.”

Art@Work will include a tributary display of the work of two staff members who passed away this past year: paintings by Claudette Crochiere, who had participated in Art@Work every year since its inception, and knitting by Carole Cournoyer, who had participated in the show many times.

Newcomers exhibiting in Art@Work include Yedalis Ruiz FP’08, Jennifer Roberts, Kate Rindy FP’08, Megan Pierson, Kay Klippel, Beth Haber, Karen Dougherty, and Nicholas Baker.

There will be 28 exhibitors in all, showing watercolor and oil paintings, photography, jewelry, woodworking, knitting, and various other media. The knitting group will be donating hats and felt bags to Gray House in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Art@Work's opening reception will take place Thursday, December 3, from 3:30 to 5 pm. Refreshments will be served, and Jerry Marchand, scanning electron microscope technician for the earth and environment department, will play his Celtic harp during the event. Marchand’s handmade jewelry also will be on display.

The reception is free, open to the public, and accessible to all. For more information, please contact Shelley Richard at x2415.
