How many varsity sports does MHC offer? The College sponsors 14 sports:
How competitive are the sports at MHC? As a member of NCAA Division III, Mount Holyoke stresses academic achievement while still maintaining a competitive athletics program. The College is dedicated to the Division III philosophy of making athletics an integral part of the educational experience.
What teams does MHC compete against? Mount Holyoke is a member of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference, which consists of Babson, Clark, Coast Guard, MIT, Mount Holyoke, Smith, Springfield, Wellesley, Wheaton, and WPI. Many teams also compete against area colleges such as Amherst, Elms, Wesleyan, and Trinity. Please visit Athletics online for more information about each sport.
What are the sports facilities like at MHC? Mount Holyoke unveiled its new Outdoor Turf Field and Track Facility in the fall of 2007. The complex features a synthetic multipurpose turf playing surface with lights surrounded by an eight-lane track with a nine-lane straightaway. Though it is used mostly for field hockey, lacrosse and soccer, the synthetic turf field serves a variety of purposes. Lights were recently added to an existing grass playing field, which is mainly used for soccer. Another field was renovated to accommodate rugby.
Other projects slated for the future include renovations to the Kendall Sports and Dance Complex, which will result in a state-of-the-art fitness facility to meet fitness needs of the entire College community and a consolidated dance department with new practice studios. Crew, one of the college's largest varsity teams has a new boathouse scheduled on the Connecticut River."
- Kendall Sports & Dance Complex
The Kendall Sports & Dance Complex consists of a 25-meter pool, weight room and cardiovascular areas, a gymnasium with basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts, and a field house with a 200-meter indoor track, tennis, squash, and racquetball courts. The area surrounding Kendall includes a 400-meter outdoor track, several playing fields, an indoor rowing tank, and a 1-mile loop around Upper Lake for running, walking, or riding your horse. - The Orchards Golf Course
The Orchards, Mount Holyoke's golf course, is located within walking distance to Kendall. The 18-hole championship golf course was designed by the legendary Donald Ross and was home to the 2004 U.S. Women's Open. Visit the Orchards online for more information.

The College also owns one of the largest collegiate equestrian centers in the country.
