The museum's Student
Advisory Committee (SAC) is a group of students with diverse majors
ranging from pre-med to American Studies who share a common interest—a
passion for the arts. SAC engages in a range of activities to
achieve their main goal of promoting a greater awareness of the
museum among students. In the past, the group organized a campus
forum to discuss potential candidates for a commission for an
outdoor sculpture to be installed in a soon-to-be-selected site
adjacent to the museum. The group also worked with museum staff
and the Development Office to create a program of events to celebrate
the spring opening of the Skinner Museum. Students, faculty and
members of the South Hadley community gave presentations on topics
related to objects in the Skinner Museum's diverse collection.
This year, SAC has undertaken
a special initiative to promote the Student Friends of Art, whose
members receive the museum newsletter and invitations to openings
as well as other special events.
