Sites and Sensibilities: Walks in Rome and Environs
A Trip to the Eternal City awaits this October . . .

In celebration of
the recently concluded Museums10 initiative BookMarks, the
Mount Holyoke College Art Museum and Cross-Culture
Journeys teamed up to present a ten-day trip to Rome scheduled
for early October 2008. The trip, "Sites and Sensibilities:
Walks in Rome and Environs," will be led by Professor John
Varriano of Mount Holyoke's art history department. The tour
will follow in the footsteps of authors and painters who wrote
in eleven different languages over a period of 2000 years, comparing
their responses to our own. A copy of Professor Varriano's Rome:
A Literary Companion - recently named by Travel & Leisure
magazine as the best guidebook for walking in the city - will
be provided to each tour participant. The itinerary also includes
visits to the charming towns of Tivoli and Frascati, as well
as the beautiful outlying area known as the Castelli Romani.
Select spaces are available to paying customers who want to
participate in this unique experience. For more information,
please contact Marianne Doezema, director of the Mount Holyoke
College Art Museum at 413.538.2245 or mdoezema@mtholyoke.edu.
