Service Requests

Forms can be found at the bell desk of all residential halls. The request is filled out and sent to the Facilities Management office in the Kohler Building through interoffice mail.

If there is an emergency, call X2012 and your request will be given priority attention.

These request forms can also be obtained from the various departmental offices located in the academic buildings for work related to those facilities.

The same request forms are used for faculty housing and can be obtained from the Facilities Management office in the Kohler building. Tenants can also telephone in their requests to the FM office. Please note: With a few exceptions, all tenant housing is now managed by a private concern.

If there is an emergency, call X2012 and your request will be given priority attention.

Requests for major work are handled by submitting a "form 8" request. This is done in the second semester and involves going through the department chairman. The request is reviewed and funds are budgeted for the following fiscal year. The large projects are also given an estimated time of completion if they involve several departments and/or temporary displacement of facilities. Large projects may also need preparation time to notify contractors to bid on work and to order materials for special projects. Present and future projects presently budgeted can be viewed by going to the projects page.

There is discussion to add a bar coding system to our stockroom inventory and as time and funds permit, all student room, dining room, and public area furniture will also be bar-coded.

The computerization of work requests, major projects, and inventories is our long term goal.. Another effort of Facilities Management is to have all the staff become computer literate, as older computers become available in the shops everyone may obtain an "address" and can go online. This will have a long term benefit for the staff and Mount Holyoke College
