Paint

The Paint Department is responsible for maintaining the exterior and interior of the Colleges physical plant. All of the painting is done "in-house" with the exception of major new construction. The department has five full-time painters year round plus five part-time painters during the summer, many of the painters are also paperhangers. Mike Hurley is the Painting Supervisor.

The paint shop uses three color dispensing machines in conjunction with a complete inventory of paint bases and finishes. This avoids the need to call for custom color requests to area vendors and the higher costs of delivering small orders. The department also maintains a complete library of colors from Pratt and Lambert, Benjamin Moore, and Sherwin/Williams at no cost to the college. This includes sets of designer books and decks from the three companies that are available for use by the college community.

Some of the more unique buildings and areas that the paint department maintains is an eighteenth century church which was moved from a town flooded by the construction of a reservoir, an equestrian center with two indoor arenas, a sports complex,  and a health center.

The Paint Department is also responsible for the continuous upgrading of all ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) signage. The objective is to make the interior and exterior of the buildings "visible" to everyone. Also, anyone approaching a building will be able to identify its accessibility regarding ramping and restrooms. This a part of a general program to install accessible elevators, restrooms, classrooms, laboratories, student rooms, and lecture halls throughout the campus.
