Stockroom
All
of the materials needed for Facilities Management to support the
campus are inventoried by the stockroom. The 23,000 square feet
of new warehouse helps organize and contain items like nuts and
bolts or 6 foot diameter reels of cable, rows of new mattresses
or recycling bins waiting for dispersal, the total value of the
inventory exceeds $700,000. Gary Laverdiere is supervisor of the
stockroom and has 3 people reporting directly to him, these folks
receive most of the goods that come in by truck and either put
it away or load it into their trucks for delivery to the right
place on campus.
The stockroom staff of three skilled laborers and one
supervisor are also responsible for: all lamp changing, trucking;
material handling; event setups; recycling of metal, glass and
plastic; furniture moving; administering and delivering hazardous
waste; and support of summer conferences.
In
addition, the stockroom folks are the front line crew to respond
to most minor disasters. They crew the water-vacs and hurry emergency
supplies to sites as needed.
