Frances Perkins
The Career Development Center, while working to provide relevant services to all students, recognizes the unique and diverse backgrounds of Frances Perkins students. Questions regarding day care, age discrimination, starting or changing careers at a later stage, financial security, time management, family/life/work balance and personal values shape the career choices of many FPs.
Finding strategies to deal with these issues will make the career development process more satisfying and fulfilling. To that end, the CDC has collected the following resources with FPs in mind. This list is not meant to be comprehensive nor is it a substitute for using the CDC services; rather it is a resource to begin research regarding your career exploration and planning.
The CDC strongly encourages you to take advantage of our workshops and counseling services, as well as our library collection. The Multicultural and FP Resources section in the library includes books, notebooks, and magazines. Some books of note include Pathways to Career Success for Women: A Resource Guide to Colleges, Financial Aid, and Work by Sherry Powley, Expert Resumes for Career Changers by Wendy Enelow and Louise.Kursmark, and Going Back to Work: A Survival Guide for Comeback Moms by Mary Quigley and Loretta Kaufman.
