Awards For Students With Disabilities

We have assembled a list of resources that may be helpful in providing support and opportunities for students with disabilities.  This list is not meant to be comprehensive nor is it a substitute for using the CDC services; rather it is a resource to supplement your research efforts regarding career exploration and planning.

Students are also encouraged to consult an excellent resource entitled "Financial Aid for the Disabled and their Families", by Gail Ann Schlachter and R. David Weber, available in the CDC Library.

Here are but a few other awards for your consideration:

John J. Ingalls Memorial Scholarship is available to undergraduate/graduate students who are residents of Massachusetts and who have disabilities.  Website is http://www.ucpboston.org/.  Deadline is in April.

Lighthouse International Career Awards Program is for undergraduate/graduate students who are legally blind.  Website is www.lighthouse.org/events/scholarship_awards.htm.  Deadline is in March.

The Lotte Kaliski Foundation for Gifted Children, Inc. offers scholarships for talented or gifted students who also have a physical handicap or learning disability. These awards are coordinated by the Dean of Studies and the Associate Dean of Learning Skills. Interested students should contact the Associate Dean of Learning Skills, John Body, 413-538-2504.

National Federation of the Blind Scholarships are for undergraduate/graduate students who are legally blind.  Website is http://www.nfb.org/.  Deadline is in March.

Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic Mary P. Oenslager Scholastic Achievement Award is for undergraduate senior students who are visually impaired.  Website is www.rfbd.org/applications_awards.htm.  Deadline is in March. 

USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships are available to undergraduate students of low-income, ethnic, minority and disability groups.  Website is http://www.usafunds.org/.  Deadline is in February.
