International Internships Faculty, alumnae, parents and friends of Mount Holyoke College have collaborated with the Center for Global Initiatives to establish the MHC Inernational Internship (MHCII) program. This program advances Mount Holyoke’s tradition of providing quality internships through on-going cultivation of sponsors and careful selection of students. The MHCII program provides an excellent opportunity for international engagement through high-quality placements exclusive to MHC students. For more details, see the CGI Web site.
MHC International Internships are highly competitive, and students are encouraged to pursue additional sources of funding for their internship, which can be done through the other summer fellowship programs. Since we have a special obligation to the sponsors of MHCII internships, application for a MHCII requires a student to accept it, if she is selected and funded. Students cannot apply for a MHCII without prior consultation with the Coordinator for Educational Opportunities Abroad, Jale Okay. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss how the internship fits within the student’s educational pathway, and whether or not the student has the requisite qualifications for the position. The meeting must take place on or before February 14.
All students are encouraged to apply for a MHC International Internships using the Universal Application Form. Seniors are eligible to apply for MHCII internships using this form, but they should be aware that preference will be given to qualified underclasswomen. Students who are going to another country for the first time are encouraged to apply. The CGI will normally not provide funding for airfare, room, and board for students going back to their home countries.
