Fellowship Policies
The following guidelines apply only to internship funds distributed by the CDC. They may not be relevant to awards from other College sources.
- You cannot receive internship funding for an internship that is required by one of your courses or for which you have arranged an independent study project.
- You must be a current Mount Holyoke College student in good academic standing to apply for and receive a fellowship award.
- You must plan to be registered at Mount Holyoke College for the following academic year to receive a summer internship fellowship.
- You must have a registered your internship in order to receive a fellowship from the CDC (this guideline does not apply to internships supported by other types of College funds).
- It is imperative that you disclose all information pertaining to whether or not you will be paid by your internship and the amount on your Universal Application Form.
- Any false information on the application may result in recovery of the full fellowship amount.
- Prior fellowship recipients may apply for funding again. However, these applications will only be considered if additional funding remains and all other qualified applicants have been reviewed.
- Fellowship applications and funding decisions will be made regardless of whether or not the student has a registered internship. However, your fellowship award will not be released to you until your internship is registered (Sponsor Confirmation Form and Internship job description, Student Confirmation Form and Off Campus Travel Waiver).
- Fellowship awards are ONLY for the internship for which you have registered.
- Funding is not available for internships with political campaigns.
- Seniors are not eligible for funding for the summer following graduation.
- First-year students may apply for summer funding only.
- You must sign a travel waiver if your internship is abroad, not part of the Mount Holyoke College study abroad program, or occurs off of Mount Holyoke College’s campus. This form is provided at the end of the Universal Application Form, and must be printed out and submitted to the CDC before your funding applciation can be considered.
- You cannot apply for funding for an internship for which you are paying an organization to participate in their internship program.
- You may participate in two internships, but you may only submit a Universal Application for only one (1) internship.
- Students who receive an Internship Fellowship from the CDC are required to complete all forms relevant to the internship process and experience. Two hundred dollars ($200) of each recipient’s total scholarship award may be withheld until the Career Development Office receives the student’s completed final report and informational interview.
- Only in exceptional cases will students be funded for internships on Mount Holyoke College’s campus. One of the purposes of internship funding is to allow students to take advantage of off-campus opportunities.
