By Class Year

It's important to have a timeline for career planning during your four years at college. By setting yourself goals and deadlines for career exploration, internship search, job search, and graduate school applications, you can ensure that you are prepared for life after college when you graduate.

YourPlan

YourPlan is Mount Holyoke's career planning tool. It is a personalized timeline for your four years at college with recommended steps in your career path and links for more information about these. YourPlan is separated into recommended steps for each class year.

Senior
This is the time to evaluate all of your options, make decisions, and develop concrete plans for after graduation.
  • Build in enough time to manage your post-MHC planning and search process
  • Have a career plan for senior year so that you do not miss upcoming opportunities
  • Attend the Senior Meeting held by the CDC in early September and read the Senior Mailing sent over the summer
  • Initiate your job search
  • Take part in the CAT program to jump-start your job search
  • Tailor your resume and cover letter for each position to which you apply
  • Network with alumnae and contacts of family and friends; conduct informational interviews and make connections
  • Identify 3-5 people to use as references for employment or graduate school recommendations and start a credentials file
  • Familiarize yourself with the different recruiting services that the CDC offer
  • Attend recruiting and/or graduate school workshops
  • Attend career fairs and employer information sessions to meet potential employers
  • Schedule a mock interview to improve your interviewing skills
  • Take part in on-campus interviews
  • Prepare your graduate school application if you have chosen this option: take relevant standardized tests and write personal statement/essays
