Finding Summer Positions
There are five places to find help in planning your summer:
- These listings of summer opportunities arranged by academic department will show you where to look for a wide array of opportunities for both domestic and international projects. They include research, volunteer, and internship opportunities. This link also includes special sections for students interested in the health professions and for minority students.
- For help with domestic internships (specifically), the CDC can help you think through your learning goals for the summer, connect you with resources, and assist you in creating your own opportunities.
- For International Internship or Research Projects, please visit the Center for Global Initiatives in Porter Hall. Given the College's current commitment for all students to have an experience abroad, we urge everyone to consider pursuing international opportunities in the summer. The CGI oversees the MHC International Internship program, and the Global Studies Summer Fellowship research program and also will assist you in finding your own opportunities abroad.
- You can also find a lot of information on the web! The majority of museums, research universities, and government organizations in the U.S. have summer internship and/or fellowship programs for undergraduates. We recommend clever web searches built around your interests and the geographical location where you would like to spend the summer. Some programs are listed as examples.
- Finally, we urge all students to consult with faculty members about possibilities!
