Deadline: Teacher Licensure Program Applications for the Practicum Year Program for teacher licensure are due Friday, February 15, in the education office, room 303, Reese. If you are a junior and plan to student teach in the spring of 2003, you must apply by this date. For application materials, contact Gayle Higgins, at x2844 or ghiggins@mtholyoke.edu.

Financial Assistance Reminder for 2002–2003 Returning domestic students should visit the Office of Financial Assistance Web site at www.mtholyoke.edu/offices/finaid for renewal deadline information or stop by the office in the basement of Skinner Hall. Renewal information was mailed to students’ homes in December.

Gorse Accepting Children’s Applications The Gorse Child Study Center is now accepting children’s applications for the 2002–2003 school year for morning preschool, afternoon preschool, and kindergarten (ages three to six). For information and an application, call x2039.

Yoga for Faculty and Staff Tara Starling is offering two winter yoga classes for faculty and staff. Session I: January 30–February 20, seven classes, $35; Session II: February 25–March 13, six classes, $30. Classes meet in Dance Studio II in Kendall, Mondays and Wednesdays, noon–1 pm. You may also drop in on a single class session for $10. For information or to register, call x2310.

Eating Issues Group Counseling Services will be offering a group for women who are interested in changing negative eating patterns, decreasing food and weight concerns, and enhancing self-acceptance. Group participants will learn about underlying dynamics that fuel eating issues, challenge unrealistic ideals, and develop alternative coping strategies. The group, facilitated by Devon Kelting, psychologist, and Laura Stegenga, graduate social work intern, will meet on Fridays throughout spring semester (beginning February 15) at the Pattie J. Groves Health Center. The meeting time will be determined by the group members. Prescreening is required; call x2037.

Seventy-ninth Glascock Intercollegiate Poetry Competition April 26–27 Poems for the 2002 Glascock Intercollegiate Poetry Competition are due by 4 pm, Monday, February 18, in the English department office, Clapp 201. Poems submitted should take approximately ten minutes to read aloud. The poet should submit two copies of her poem. She should leave her name off the copies themselves but identify herself in an attached note. The Mount Holyoke student chosen anonymously by the faculty-student Glascock Committee will read her work with students from five other colleges before a public audience that includes three poet-judges: Carl Phillips, Rosanna Warren, and Karl Kirchwey.
