Preconcert Music Lecture Professor of Music Louise Litterick
will present a brief lecture on Schubert's Winterreise,
which will be performed at 8 pm in McCulloch Auditorium.

Warbeke Memorial Concert Franz Schubert's
Winterreise, a cycle of twenty-four songs on poems by
William Mueller, will be performed by Richard Lalli, baritone,
and Janet Schmalfeldt, piano. Among the most admired of all Romantic
compositions, this work depicts the winter wanderings of a young
man, disappointed in love and driven by sorrow from the warmth

Nash analyzes the dramatic changes that took place when Nancy
Drew, the popular fictional heroine for girls, was translated
into the subject of four films produced by Warner Brothers in

African Forms Opening Reception Marc Ginzberg,
collector of African art, cofounder of the Museum for African
Art in New York, and author of the catalogue accompanying the
exhibition, will give a gallery talk. In addition, Balla Tounkara,
a griot and master kora player from Mali, West Africa, and one
of the hottest artists on America's world music scene, will
perform after Ginzberg's talk and during the reception that
follows. Galleries will be open during the presentations by Ginzberg
and Tounkara. The exhibition continues through March 14. Lobby,

"Physics, Feminism, and Poststructuralist Theory:
Towards an Understanding of How Discursive Practices Matter"
Lecture by Karan Barad. What is the relationship between
discursive practices and the material world? Social constructivist
approaches have failed to theorize this crucial relationship,
leaving feminists without an explanation of how the discursive
formation of bodies and subjectivities is related to material
forces, including the development of new technologies and local
