Five College Student Symposium on Community Engagement
The Mount Holyoke
College Community-Based Learning (CBL) Program announces the first
annual Five College Student Symposium on Community Engagement.
The symposium will be held at Amherst College's Keefe Campus Center
February 18, 4-7 pm.
Gus Newport, national
civil rights activist, local community development champion, and
former mayor of Berkeley, California, will deliver the keynote
address. A panel discussion and workshop will be followed by a
celebration (open to all) including local food and music starting
at 7 pm.
For the first time,
students from the Five Colleges who are committed to learning
and serving in the community through service and nonprofit internships
will come together to redefine, participate in, and celebrate
what community means.
