A large group of leaders
from fields including media, fashion, politics, and finance
attended the New York City kickoff of “Uncommon Women,” a
new speaker series.
The series will focus on key societal issues and is produced
by ELLE magazine in conjunction with Mount Holyoke College
and Wendy Wasserstein ’71, a Pulitzer Prize-winning
author and playwright. Held on Tuesday, February 17, at Le
Bernadin restaurant in New York City, the event featured
a panel discussion on “Media, the Elections, and the
Future of Politics.” Participants in the program included,
from left to right, Carol Darr, director, The Institute for
Politics, Democracy, and the Internet at George Washington
University; Mount Holyoke President Joanne V. Creighton;
Roberta Myers, editor-in-chief, ELLE; Carol Smith, senior
vice president, ELLE; Wendy Wasserstein; Claire Shipman,
senior national correspondent, Good Morning America; and
Judy Woodruff, anchor and senior correspondent, CNN. About
half the attendees were Mount Holyoke alumnae. |
