the Liberal Arts and Five College Dance Department

Image Sense: the Arts
in the Liberal Arts," a "hybrid" lecture/performance
by MHC Professor of Dance Jim Coleman that will feature dances
by Pam Vail, Peter Schmitz, MHC Professor of Dance Terese Freedman,
and Coleman, will be held Thursday, March 6, in Kendall's
Studio Theatre at 4:30 pm.
A reception will follow the event.
Coleman will speak about the importance for liberal arts education
of the arts' nondiscursive, experiential modes of learning
and knowledge, and alumni of the Five College dance department
will perform solo and group work. "This event comes on the
eve (next year) of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Five College
dance department," says Coleman. "I'm thinking
of this lecture/performance partly as an opportunity to celebrate
the success of the department."
