Scholarships The
Department of German Studies invites German studies majors planning
to study in Germany in 2000-2001 to apply for the Evelyn Finkbeiner
Fellowship for Study Abroad and the Adeltraut P. Barrett Scholarship
Award for Travel for Study in Germany. The following is a list of
Finkbeiner Fellowship application requirements: an up-to-date
transcript, information on other funding available for study abroad,
and a short statement in German explaining how the fellowship will
foster and support academic plans for study in Germany. Barrett
Scholarship Award Travel application requirements are a copy of the
applicant's study abroad application, information on other funding
available for study abroad, and a short statement in German
explaining the travel destination and the purpose of study abroad.
The deadline for the Finkbeiner Fellowship and Barrett Scholarship
is
March 27.
Office of Admission Positions Available The Office of Admission has several employment and volunteer positions open to current students and graduating seniors for the summer and academic year. Positions include Student Admission Board, student administrative assistant, tour guide (summer and academic year), admission fellow (summer and academic year, rising seniors only), and admission counselor (recent graduates only). Candidates should have strong presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Applications are available in the Office of Admission foyer. Student position applications are due on Thursday, March 30. Admission counselor applications are due on Wednesday, April 5. There will be an information session about these positions on Friday, March 24, at 3 pm in Hooker Auditorium. Admission representatives will explain each position in detail, answer questions, and distribute applications. It is not necessary to attend this information session to apply for these positions. The Office of Admission actively seeks women of various ethnic backgrounds, geographic regions, majors/programs, and ideology. For more information, call x2023.
Summer Internship Scholarships The CDC is coordinating Summer Internship Scholarships for students who are completing internships and receiving transcript notation. In addition to the General Internship Scholarships, there are many special awards available to students who meet the particular criteria that an alumna donor has specified. These include internships in a developing country and at a Berkshire County (MA) nonprofit organization; internships in journalism, government and politics, health and medical sciences, science research; and internships involved with international concerns. Applications and more information, including selection criteria, are available at the Career Development Center. The application deadline has been extended to Friday, March 31.
Physical Education Classes Resume Physical Education classes begin Monday, March 20 and Tuesday, March 22. Come to class prepared for activity.
