WFCR, the Five College NPR affiliate,
will present the humorist and best-selling author David Sedaris for
a reading and book signing on Tuesday, April 5 at 7:30 pm in Chapin
Auditorium. The event is cosponsored by the Valley Advocate and Mount
Holyoke College.
Sedaris is perhaps best known for his piece “Santaland Diaries,” which
describes his experiences working as one of Santa’s elves at
Macy’s department store in New York City, which was broadcast
in a shortened version on NPR. In Sedaris’s most recent collection
of pieces, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, he
recounts losing his candy one childhood Halloween, touring and
secretly coveting
Anne Frank’s old house, and drowning a mouse in the dark
of night.
Tickets are $25–$50. Producer’s Circle tickets include
a pre-performance reception. For tickets and information, call
the UMass Fine Arts Center box office at 800-999-UMAS.
