Response to War
In response to the outbreak of war with Iraq, Mount Holyoke is taking a number of steps to ensure that its students and other members of the community are safe. The College is also providing students with opportunities to receive support during these anxious times. Check the Web for updates.

Second*Saturday 2003 Group Leaders Sought

Would you like to lead a group of new students on Second*Saturday 2003 (September 13)? Something outdoors? A community-service project? Application forms for Second*Saturday 2003 student group leaders are available now from the Office of the Dean of the College (Mary Lyon, third floor), or from Cathy Melhorn (Pratt Hall, room 302). The application deadline is Friday, April 4.

Under the Influence

Alcohol-related car accidents are the number one killer for those younger than twenty-five, causing one death every fifteen minutes in the United States. The Mount Holyoke College Medical Emergency Response team and the Alcohol and Drug Advisory Committee are joining South Hadley High School in cosponsoring "Every Fifteen Minutes," a national program to promote awareness of the consequences of drinking and driving. The program, scheduled for Wednesday, April 2 (rain date Tuesday, April 8), will include a "vision goggle" demonstration that simulates driving under the influence, 10 am–5 pm in Wilder Basement; a mock accident and information table, 12:15–1 pm on Skinner Green; a panel presentation, 7–8 pm in Dwight 101; and a memorial service honoring those affected by alcohol-related accidents, 8–8:30 pm in Abbey Chapel. For more information, contact Karen Jacobus, coordinator of health education (kjacobus@mtholyoke.edu or x3200).

Family Weekend 2003

For all parents to have an equal chance for overnight accommodations at the Willits-Hallowell Center during Family Weekend, October 31– November 2, 2003, guest rooms will be decided on the basis of a lottery. Any student who would like to have her family stay at Willits-Hallowell may fill out a lottery form at the front desk between March 28 and April 18. Parents and students will be notified of the lottery outcome.
