Skinner Estate The College is in negotiations with the Lenox, Massachusetts-based Berkshire Hills Music Academy regarding the sale of the 41acre Skinner mansion and estate on College Street. The nonprofit academy hopes to use the estate as a residential school for adults with Williams Syndrome. Those with Williams Syndrome often experience cognitive challenges but are gifted in music. The academy will maintain the current mansion and the integrity of the estate and will offer the College the right of first refusal should the property be put on the market in the future. The negotiations were the subject of a March 23 story in the Springfield [MA] Union News.
