Holly
Hanson (left), assistant professor of history and African American
and African studies, chats with prospective student Celeste Caskey
and her mother Alice at Explore April 3. The Caskeys came all the way
from South Carolina to attend the event. The admission office will
host five more Explore programs this month.
Explore Mount Holyoke The Office of Admission is preparing to welcome high school sophomores and juniors to campus for Explore Mount Holyoke 2000. Explore will take place April 3, 7, 10, 14, 21, and 24. The program is designed to acquaint prospective students and their parents with the College and to offer them a sense of what makes MHC unique. Visitors will attend an information session, tour the campus, and have lunch with current students and other community members. They will also have the opportunity to have an admission interview and meet with coaches.
Please join the admission office in welcoming these visitors to campus. Although the Office of admission is primarily responsible for Explore, the program's success depends on the assistance of students, faculty, and staff. Many of these visitors will be on campus for the first time for Explore. Please help make this first impression a positive one. For more information, call x2023.
Preview 2000 From
April 15 to 17, the Office of Admission will host Preview 2000--the
College's annual open house for high school seniors who have been
admitted to Mount Holyoke. Preview will begin on Saturday, April 15,
with a series of events for ALANA students. The rest of the
prospective class of 2004 will arrive on Sunday, April 16, for a
multitude of events, including panels, class visits, and an overnight
stay. This year 375 prospective students and their families are
expected on campus. Please extend your warmest welcome to these
special guests. For more information, please call x2023. Musicorda Musicians Need
Housing The 2000 Musicorda Summer String Program and Festival
(July 1-August 12) is in need of housing for its faculty. Some
faculty will be here for the entire six weeks, others for only the
first or the second three weeks of the season. The program would like
to find ten residences for a period of six weeks (three of the ten
are single people). However, the festival would be happy to have the
option of several three-week residences (July 1-July 22 or July
22-August 12). All rental contracts are with Musicorda, and the
festival has an excellent record for responsible subletting over the
past thirteen years. Contact Jackie Melnick or Millie D'Amato at
x2590 for more information.
