Derrick Bell
to Speak at Mount Holyoke April 7
Derrick
Bell, NYU Law School professor, lawyer, and author of Silent Covenants:
Brown v. Board of Education and Unfulfilled Hopes for Racial Reform,
will speak Thursday, April 7, at 7 pm in Gamble Auditorium. Bell’s talk
is titled “Fantasizing Reality: Why Brown Failed, How Bush Won, and Distinguishing
Dangers and Opportunities.” It is part of the Five College Learning
in Retirement 2005 Memorial Series, Slavery and Its Legacy, which focuses
on black slavery and its consequences for our times. The series is
presented
in collaboration
with the Urban League of Springfield, the African American and African
Studies Program at MHC, and the Springfield Museums.
