Grant to Support Innovation
How can Mount Holyoke
invigorate, perhaps reimagine, its collective academic enterprise?
Mount Holyoke's Plan for 2010 encourages the College
community to reflect on this question during the next few years,
and funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation will facilitate
that process. With a $40,000 grant to support the Plan's
Innovation Fund, the Academic Priorities Committee is inviting
faculty, staff, and students to propose retreats, workshops, or
other working groups on projects that stimulate thinking about
the academic, curricular, pedagogic, and administrative goals
articulated by the Plan. Potential areas of rethinking
might include curricular innovation, interdisciplinary initiatives,
study abroad, January Term, pilot projects, etc. Two-page proposals
articulating the importance of the project, a budget, and supporting
materials are due by May 1 to Professor of Chair of English Donald
Weber, c/o the Academic Priorities Committee, Department of English.
Awards will be announced June 1.
