Dancer to Perform April 23

Dancer,
choreographer, teacher, and dance scholar Hari Krishnan, a critically
acclaimed performer who is credited with the reconstruction and
revival of several archaic temple and court dances from nineteenth-century
South India, will give a lecture/performance of bharata natyam
(the major classical dance style of South India) Wednesday, April
23, in Kendall’s Studio Theatre at 5 pm. Krishnan, who is
currently an artist-in-residence at Wesleyan University, will
be accompanied by four musicians. The event will take place in
conjunction with Performing Arts of South India, a course taught
this semester at MHC by Devesh Soneji, visiting lecturer in Asian
studies.
