Special Ticket Offers and Opportunities to Volunteer at 2004 U.S. Women’s Open

When the 59th annual United States Women’s Open is held at the Orchards at Mount Holyoke, Monday, June 28, through Sunday, July 4, 2004, it is hoped that many members of the College community will participate in the national women’s golf championship, the world’s largest sporting event for women. Tickets will be made available to the community soon, before they go on sale to the general public in mid-May. All Mount Holyoke students, parents, faculty, and staff will be offered these specially priced tickets and packages. Watch your mailboxes for these offers, which will arrive shortly.

In addition, the United States Golf Association invites members of the community to serve as volunteers for the event. More than 2,200 volunteers will provide many important services, including marshaling, welcoming spectators, directing traffic, and operating scoreboards. Volunteers will be assigned to one of twenty-three committees and will be asked to work at least four shifts of four to six hours. Each volunteer is required to purchase a $95 volunteer package (a $200 value), which includes a uniform, a pass for all seven days of the championship, a meal for each shift worked, and a volunteer-appreciation party and merchandise sale prior to the championship.

To complete a volunteer application, visit www.2004uswomensopen.com and click on “volunteers.”
Spanning 250 acres, the Orchards Golf Club was designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1922 as a nine-hole layout. Nine holes were added in 1927.
