Commencement Eve The class of 2004 has selected Lois Brown, associate professor of English, and Michelle Stephens, assistant professor of English, as its baccalaureate speakers. Baccalaureate will take place Saturday, May 22, in Abbey Memorial Chapel at 9 pm. Canoe Sing--one of MHC's most treasured traditions--and fireworks will follow immediately at Lower Lake.

By the Numbers George Cobb, Robert L. Rooke Professor of Mathematics and Statistics, will be one of the keynote speakers at the Eighteenth New England Statistics Symposium, which takes place at Harvard University Saturday, April 24. The purpose of the conference is to bring together statisticians from all over the region. Cobb's talk, titled "Is the Mathematical Statistics Course in a Vegetative State?," will address the future of the statistics profession.
