Dar Williams to Perform Free Concert at Mount Holyoke

Dar Williams, one of the hottest acts on the national folk-music scene, will be performing for the MHC community Tuesday, May 8, at 8 pm in Chapin Auditorium. The event, sponsored by President Creighton and The Network, is free to the MHC community. Williams will perform songs from her new album, The Green World, and the event will celebrate the last day of classes for MHC's "green" class of 2001 and the College’s construction and renovation projects, including the campus master plan and the "green" science building. Doors will open at 7:30 pm.

Tickets (one per person) are available to individuals with an MHC ID at the Blanchard Campus Center information desk. Faculty, staff, and students may pick up tickets while supplies last. Additional tickets for the MHC community and their off-campus guests will be available if supplies last.

Williams’s career was launched in the early 1990s when she became a regular on the Boston/Cambridge coffeehouse folk circuit. In 1994, she recorded her first collection of songs, The Honesty Room, which included the popular "When I Was a Boy." Mortal City was produced in 1996 and received widespread critical notice, and was followed in 1997 by End of the Summer. Williams’s nonprofit foundation, The Snowden Environmental Trust, helps preserve wildlife habitats around the world.
