The Mount Holyoke
dressage team returned victorious once again from the national
championships, held April 23–25 at Cazenovia College
in Cazenovia, New York. Not only did the team win top honors,
but Mount Holyoke riders competing as individuals won grand
championship honors in two out of four divisions. Coach Rebecca
Schurink couldn’t be happier with her team’s triumph
in such stiff competition. “This was not an easy win,” Schurink
said. “The riders all had to put in flawless rides in
order to come out on top.”
Mount Holyoke’s team riders were Kate D’Ambly ’05, riding first
level, the highest level of competition; and Cathrine Tauscher ’06 at upper
training level; Christiane Benzing ’04 at lower training level; and Nina
Akerley ’04 at introductory level. Individual riders included team captain
Lindsay Whipple ’06, first level grand champion, and Nadine Krause ’07,
grand champion, introductory level.
