This spring’s Introduction to Robotics class challenged teams of MHC
students to design, prototype, and build functional robots that would assist
the disabled. Dion McIntosh ’04 (top left) and Kara Johnson ’07
(top right) display their robotic pill dispenser, while Helen Chen ’04
(below) shows off a traveling smoke detector that she and Madiha Aziz ’05
built. Other projects included a robotic page turner and an automated walking
stick for the blind. The class was taught by Paul Dobosh, professor of computer
science, and Orin Hoffmann, physics laboratory director.
