The College’s Office of Communications has appointed a
new periodicals editor for the College Street Journal
and Vista. Sarah Curran Barrett replaces Janet Tobin,
who left the position in May to become the assistant dean of the
faculty at Amherst College.
Barrett was most recently a senior copywriter at Channing Bete
Company in South Deerfield, Massachusetts, where she managed national
advertising and public relations campaigns for their education
and prevention science markets. Before that, she was the coeditor
of Smith College’s Alumnae Quarterly and held various
editorial positions at Rutgers, Golden Gate, and Tufts universities.
“Sarah brings a wide range of talent and experience to her
new position, having built a successful career in communications
both in the educational and corporate sectors,” said Patricia
VandenBerg, executive director of communications and strategic
initiatives. “Her savvy and leadership in this important
position will serve Mount Holyoke and its constituencies well.”
“It feels great to be back in an academic environment,”
said Barrett, who started on August 6. “I look forward to
meeting and working with the Mount Holyoke community.”
Barrett can be reached by phone at 413-538-2809 or by email at
scbarret@mtholyoke.edu.
