Nota Bene Construction Updates Painless Auditions
The Five College Early Music Program announces "painless auditions"
and information sessions for the Early Music Collegium, Euridice ensemble
(Baroque/classical chamber music), and other ensembles. Wind players
and violinists are especially welcome, but there are openings for
singers and instrumentalists of all sorts. Choose from small instrumental
ensembles, a women's vocal ensemble (Voces Feminae), a seminar in
seventeenth-century song for qualified singers and lute/keyboard players,
and a Renaissance dance class. Private and group lessons on recorder,
viol, lute, and other instruments are also available. Auditions will
be held September 4, from 2 to 3:30 pm, at the University of Massachusetts
in room 159 FAC; September 5, from Calling All Actors MHC's
Department of Theatre Arts will hold auditions for William Shakespeare's
Hamlet September 8. Callbacks will be the same day. The production
will present Shakespeare's most famous tale as the story of a young
Danish princess caught in a web of corruption, intrigue, and sexual
politics, and denied her rightful throne by her uncle. The all-female
production will "reclaim" this "masculine" play
for female actors and challenge concepts of gender, identity, and
sexual ambivalence. Performances will be held April 1921 and
April 2528. Principal cast members must enroll in Acting Shakespeare
II in the fall semester. The department will hold auditions for Night
of the Iguana, Tennessee Williams's poetic drama about the terrifying
isolation of loneliness, September 57. Callbacks will be September
9; performances are scheduled for October 2528. The department
will also hold auditions for Noel Coward's Hay Fever, a comedy of
manners set in the 1920s, September 57. Callbacks will be September
9. See CSJ Happenings for audition times and locations. Glee Club, Chamber Singers Wanted |
