Calling All Actors MHC's Department of Theatre Arts will hold auditions for William Shakespeare's Hamlet September 8. Callbacks will be the same day. The production will present Shakespeare's most famous tale as the story of a young Danish princess caught in a web of corruption, intrigue, and sexual politics, and denied her rightful throne by her uncle. The all-female production will "reclaim" this "masculine" play for female actors and challenge concepts of gender, identity, and sexual ambivalence. Performances will be held April 19–21 and April 25–28. Principal cast members must enroll in Acting Shakespeare II in the fall semester. The department will hold auditions for Night of the Iguana, Tennessee Williams's poetic drama about the terrifying isolation of loneliness, September 5–7. Callbacks will be September 9; performances are scheduled for October 25–28. The department will also hold auditions for Noel Coward's Hay Fever, a comedy of manners set in the 1920s, September 5–7. Callbacks will be September 9. See CSJ Happenings for audition times and locations.
