Saturday 1


Parents' Welcome Lounge Refreshments and a place to rest for parents. Lyon's Den, Blanchard Campus Center, 10 am–4 pm.

Dessert Buffet and Dance Party A chance for international and ALANA students to meet and enjoy a night of music, dancing, and a slide show of Passages and International preorientation events 2001. *Blanchard Campus Center, 9 pm.

Sunday 2

Vendors on the Green Purchase carpets, posters, and other necessities from area vendors. In case of rain, the event will end at 3:30 pm. Skinner Green, 9 am–5 pm.

Eliot House Oasis The College chaplains offer refreshments and a place to put your feet up at Eliot House. Chaplains to the College and religious life advisers will answer questions about campus religious life, interfaith cooperation, and community service. Wa-Shin-An, the College's teahouse and meditation garden (located upstairs) will be open for tours 1–3 pm. Eliot House lounge, 9 am–3 pm.

Day Student Check-In Pick up registration packets, orientation schedules, and temporary all-campus/ID cards. Room 203 (day student lounge), *Blanchard Campus Center, 9–11 am.

"Women Leading Leading Women" Upperclasswomen welcome entering students and begin discussion of expectations for constructing an independent life at Mount Holyoke College. Chapin Auditorium, *Mary Woolley Hall, 1:15 pm.

President's Welcome for New Students and Families Hear welcoming remarks from Diane Anci, dean of admission; Leah Glasser, dean of first-year students; Donal O'Shea, dean of the faculty; Nicole Townsend, president of SGA; and Joanne V. Creighton, president of the College. Moderated by Beverly Daniel Tatum, dean of the College. Rain location: Chapin Auditorium. Gettell Amphitheater, 3:30 pm.

"Many Voices, Many Minds" A discussion about the challenges and rewards of membership in the multicultural community of Mount Holyoke. Moderated by Ruth Bass Green, dean of sophomore studies, and Beverly Daniel Tatum, dean of the College. Join Catharine Melhorn, director of the Mount Holyoke College Glee Club, and members in singing the alma mater. Chapin Auditorium, *Mary Woolley Hall, 10 am.

Play Right It started one night with alcohol and flirtation … and ended with a conflicting story. Who's telling the truth? This performance by Equalogy will be followed by a panel discussion about campus resources with Public Safety, the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program, and Health Services. Chapin Auditorium, *Mary Woolley Hall, 6:30–7:30 pm.

WMHC Party Mount Holyoke's radio station will start off the year correctly with a crash course in partying. Come get to know your class on the dance floor. *Blanchard Campus Center, 10 pm–2 am.

Reflections on the Common Reading A panel of faculty, students, and alumnae reflect on their reading of Julia Alvarez's How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents. Small group discussions led by students will follow the panel. Alvarez will read from her book on Friday, 9/7. Hooker Auditorium, *Clapp Hall, 10 am.

Museum Mania Explore art on campus with the art museum's "Hidden Treasure Hunt" challenge and get a free poster for participating. The first five people to complete the hunt with the correct answers will win other great prizes! Treasure hunt starts at 4 pm; prizes will be awarded and refreshments served at 5 pm. Information about the museum's collections and programs will be available. *Reese lobby, 4 pm.

The New Roommate Game Winners from each residence hall compete in this campuswide contest. Prizes will be awarded. Everyone is welcome. *Blanchard Campus Center, 8 pm.

Academic Fair Ask questions, resolve schedule conflicts, arrange to add new courses, make schedule changes, and discuss courses with faculty and the registrar. All new students who have questions or concerns about their schedule should attend. All departments and programs will have representatives present. Field house, *Kendall, 10 am.

Excelling at Mount Holyoke A crucial session for all new Mount Holyoke students. This event will provide a foundation for your first year at Mount Holyoke. Hooker Auditorium, *Clapp Hall, 1 pm.

Financial Services Question-and-Answer Session A representative from the Office of Financial Services will answer questions on topics ranging from student employment to student loans and more. Room 120, *Clapp Hall, 2:45 pm.

Convocation Join faculty, staff, and students for the ceremony opening the academic year. New students will become part of the Mount Holyoke community of honor. A picnic on Skinner Green will follow the ceremony. Rain location: Chapin Auditorium. Gettell Amphitheater,
4 pm.

Auditions for Hay Fever A classic comedy of manners by Noel Coward, directed by Donald T. Sanders, with roles for five women and four men. All roles are of reasonably equivalent size. Auditions: Wednesday through Friday, 9/5–7, 7–10 pm. Callbacks: Sunday, 9/9, 2–5 pm. Performances: 12/6–9. Rooke Theatre, 7 pm.

Auditions for Night of the Iguana A poetic drama by Tennessee Williams about the terrifying isolation of loneliness, directed by Joyce Devlin. Cast includes three dancers (female or male), one percussionist, and acting roles for nine women and five men. Auditions: Wednesday–Friday, 9/5–7, 7–10 pm. Callbacks: Sunday, 9/9, 2–5 pm. Performances: 10/25–28. Rooke Theatre, 7 pm.
Convocation Party Celebrate the new school year with dancing and music. Skinner Green, 8 pm.

Thursday 6
