Study with the Williams College/Mystic Seaport Program The Williams-Mystic semester of study is an interdisciplinary ocean and coastal studies program. It features outstanding field seminars on sailing offshore, travelling along the West Coast, and exploring Nantucket Island. Also included are four integrated classes in maritime history, marine science, marine policy, and literature of the sea. The program combines the academic excellence of Williams College with the coastal and historic setting of Mystic Seaport. A program representative will be at Mount Holyoke Tuesday, September 17, at 4:30 pm in Skinner Hall, room 202. Can't make the meeting? Visit a representative in Mystic at an open house October 5. Transportation is available. Contact Kelly at 860-572-5359, x2 to RSVP.

Want a Personal Trainer? Personal training services are now available to the MHC community. Certified personal trainer Teresa Winstead recently joined the athletics department and is offering one-on-one sessions to help students, staff, and faculty reach their health and fitness goals. For more information, call x3087 and leave a message, or email her at twinstea@mtholyoke.edu. Session 1, which costs $50, includes baseline measurements of fitness, goal setting, and devising an attainable action plan. Each client will begin with this initial consultation before purchasing more sessions. A five-session package, at a cost of $40 per session, is highly recommended for anyone who would like basic guidelines and instruction on the best way to achieve his or her fitness goals. Five sessions with a personal trainer allows a more tailored exercise and weight resistance plan, which is developed and demonstrated for the client. A ten-session package, at a cost of $35 per session, is also available. It is geared for the individual who needs an extra boost of motivation and/or would prefer one-on-one instruction throughout the first few weeks of his or her new fitness program. New fall noncredit fitness offerings, which begin the week of September 30 and run for five weeks, are also available. To register, email Teresa Winstead. Class sizes are limited. Payment is due in full at the beginning of the first class.

Kickboxing for All Kickboxing classes to be offered this semester will encompass functional strength and flexibility, basic kickboxing techniques and combinations, cardiovascular fitness, and some self-defense applications. A class for faculty, students, and staff will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 am in Kendall, dance studio 1. A class for staff and faculty only will be held from noon to 1 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays in Kendall Dance Studio 2. Classes, which cost $50 for the five-week session, are limited to twenty participants.

Flexibility and Weight Circuit Are you crunched for time, and do you need a little motivation and guidance in your workout? Come work out in a comfortable group setting, and learn just how much you can accomplish during the noon hour on Fridays in Kendall's weight room. This class, which is limited to ten participants, is for faculty and staff only. The cost for the five-week session, which begins October 4, is $30.
