Ever want to explore
the inner workings of a fire truck, use a fire hose, or learn
the proper way to set off a fire extinguisher? You can do this
and morefrom watching a video of burning dorm room and hands-on
demonstrations of various kinds, to visiting an interactive exhibition
trailer, during the College's fire expo. The event, which is set
for Tuesday, September 17, from 11 am to 2 pm on Skinner Green,
is designed to raise awareness about campus fire safety. College
fire marshals Mike Buckley and Paul Ominsky will be on hand, as
will members of MHC's volunteer fire brigade, employees who are
trained and equipped to be firefighters and function as members
of South Hadley's volunteer fire department, in addition to their
MHC roles. The volunteers, who are supported by the College, receive
monthly training from the local fire department and are on call
to fight fires both at the College and in the town of South Hadley.
All expo attendees can enter a raffle for a combination TV/VCR.
