Alumnae Association News Sally J. Lemaire '68, who has served as executive director of the Alumnae Association of Mount Holyoke College for more than eleven years, has announced that she will resign July 1, 2003 due to poor health. In a letter sent to the MHC community August 21, Karen M. Hendricks '76, wrote, “Sally's devotion to Mount Holyoke and its alumnae is legendary among all who have known her and worked with her since her days as a student, as an active alumna, and as the Alumnae Association's executive director. Sally's many Mount Holyoke friends will miss her terrific knowledge, expertise, and dedication.” A committee has been formed to begin the search for a new executive director.

Winning Administrator The National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA) recently named Laurie Priest, MHC's director of athletics, Administrator of the Year for 2002 for Division III athletics. Priest will receive her award at the annual NACWAA fall forum to be held October 12–15 in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Peripatetic Pianist In July, MHC music instructor Eugenie Malek traveled to the Czech Republic, where she performed and coached chamber music.

In Memoriam Jing Jin '03, who came to MHC as a transfer student last fall, died July 9 while at home in China. Her death was the result of a tragic gas poisoning accident. Jin attended Hanover College, where she was on the Dean's List and earned the Hanover College Pointe Scholarship for Outstanding Academic Performance. At MHC, she continued to excel academically, finding her niche in the economics department. A memorial tree dedication ceremony will be held September 24 on the lawn in front of Safford Hall.
