Community

Launch a Leader The Office of Admission is looking for the best and brightest candidates for admission to the College and is asking for the assistance of the MHC community to help identify these students. Launch a Leader is a program through which members of the MHC community send a special packet of information to outstanding prospective Mount Holyoke women. Included in these packets are an application for admission, general information about the College, a brochure highlighting a number of MHC’s many notable alumnae, and a Launch a Leader certificate. When the prospective student sends in her application with this certificate, she is exempt from paying the application fee. Interested in participating? Launch a Leader packets will be available at the Blanchard Campus Center information desk beginning September 18, and admission representatives will visit residence halls in October to discuss the program. Call Nicole Gilbert at x2023 for further information.

Students

Student Schedules Students are reminded that schedules are due in the registrar’s office by 5 pm, Wednesday, September 20. This is the last day to add a course in any of the Five Colleges (including Mount Holyoke).

Reminder on Election of the Ungraded Option All students are reminded that the ungraded option may be elected only during the first three weeks of classes. Once elected, the option will not be removed after the fifteenth day of classes. The ungraded option cannot be elected for courses satisfying the specific degree requirements. This restriction applies to distribution credit, the language requirement, the multicultural perspectives requirement, courses in the major or minor, and 300-level work outside the major. Any courses taken under the ungraded option will be counted Solely as elective credit
toward the 128-credit requirement for the Mount Holyoke degree. Wednesday, September 27, is the deadline for electing or changing the ungraded option. Exception: The last day to elect or change the ungraded option for the class of 2004 is Friday, November 17, at 5 pm.

Course Drops The last day to drop a course and not have the course noted DR on your transcript is Wednesday, September 27, by 5 pm. Failure to attend class does not constitute dropping a course from a student’s registration. It is the student’s responsibility (not the faculty’s) to drop courses in which she has enrolled. This must be done prior to printed drop deadlines, or be subject to late drop fees. The last day to drop a course is Friday, November 17, at 5 pm.
Students who miss registration deadlines may petition the Academic Administrative Board (AAB) to be allowed to effect their registration. Compelling reasons must be provided when requesting an exception to College policy. The form to be used when petitioning is available on the Web. Please check the Office of the Registrar’s home page and choose the forms option.
