O’Shea
Encore
Donal O’Shea has signed on for another five-year term as
dean of faculty and vice president for academic affairs. O’Shea,
who is also the Elizabeth Kennan Professor of Mathematics, Statistics,
and Computer Science, has been dean since 1998.
New Deans
List Liz Braun, who for the past four years has been
director of residential life, is serving as acting associate dean
of the College/dean of students; Tamatha Gaumnitz, who was assistant
registrar, is serving as acting dean of the classes of 2004 and
2006; and Donna Van Handle, senior lecturer in German, is serving
as acting dean of international students.
Dean Conversion Starting this year, Leah Glasser will
continue to be dean of first-year studies, but other class deans
will stay with their classes until they graduate. This will provide
more continuity for those students who rely on the academic deans,
according to Lee Bowie, dean of the College. In prior years each
of the four classes had its own dean. Consequently a student who
was seeing an academic dean over a period of four years might
have worked with four different deans.
