MHC's
Community Campaign in Progress
Mount Holyokes community campaign, an annual employee fund drive
that raises money to help charitable organizations that, in turn, help
local people in need, is now under way. The campaign began September
27 and continues through October 18, and is administered by the Community
United Way of the Pioneer Valley. Said President Joanne Creighton, Last year, with a bit of extra
effort, we were able to exceed our campaign goal of $30,000 with a total
contribution of $31,692. We hope to be able to build on the steady progress
we have made over the past several years and to achieve this years
goal of $35,000. As in recent years, we are particularly eager to increase
the percentage of employees giving to the campaign. Because Mount Holyoke
is one of the largest employers in the region, the United Way depends
on us to be one of the largest employee campaigns. The United Way provides programs and services to thousands of local
residents through its affiliated agencies, which help families devastated
by house fires or domestic violence, feed the hungry, give health services
to senior citizens, help those with disabilities, and provide programs
for young children, to name just a few of their activities. The Mount Holyoke Community Campaign offers the convenience of giving
through payroll deduction and allows employees to designate their gift
to virtually any nonprofit organization through United Ways donor
choice program. If an organization of choice is not included in
the campaign materials, employees may write the recipients name
and address on their pledge form. The College encourages every employee to make a donation to the
United Way, said campaign coordinator Stephanie Hull, assistant
to the president and secretary of the College. It seems particularly
appropriate now, when the College is enjoying success on all levels,
to share our good fortune with the community in which we live and work. |
