The MHC community will have the opportunity to view preliminary designswhich
include plans for everything from a cyber café and two large
additions to the building to French doors, skylights, and patio diningfor
the renovation of the Blanchard Campus Center at an open forum to be
held at Blanchard Tuesday, October 3, at 5 pm. Final plans for the art
building and science complex projects will also be discussed, and pizza
will be served at the event. Scheduled to make presentations are John Bryant, the Colleges
new director of facilities management, and Mel Overmoyer, a consultant
with Strategic Building Solutions and project manager for all three
projects. President Joanne Creighton and Mary Jo Maydew, vice president
for finance and administration, will be available to answer questions. Says Bryant, The goal of the Blanchard redesign project is to increase vitality on campus and create a center of activity. We are in the early schematic, design phase of this project, and we want to get as much feedback as possible from Blanchard users. The art and science projects are much farther along, and we want everyone to have a good sense of what these projects have to offer. The Blanchard Committee, made up of faculty members, administrators, and a student representative, has worked with architect Will Spears of Miller, Dyer, and Spears to create the new design for Blanchard. The board of trustees will review the Blanchard project at its October meeting and may vote on it as early as March. |
