In Memoriam Frederick
C. Seiffert, 85, of South Hadley died
on September 26. He had worked in the College’s maintenance
department for more than 20 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran
of World War II and had served with the 71st Infantry in France,
Germany, and Austria. He was a Mason of the Isle Patmos Lodge
No. 17 in South Hero, Vermont. He is survived by his daughter,
Melodie M. Kouflie of South Hadley; four grandchildren; and four
great grandchildren. His wife and son predeceased him.
In Memoriam Joseph Lewandowski, 92, of South Hadley died on
October 3. He had worked in the College’s maintenance department
for more than 20 years, retiring in 1976. He was a communicant
of Mater Dolorosa Church and a member of the Council on Aging
in South Hadley. He is survived by two nieces. Donations may
be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, 1 Armory Street, Springfield,
MA 01104.
Info Commons Correction The data connections in the information
commons are category 6 twisted pair, which currently provide
10/100 mbit ethernet. They are not TS-1 lines, as previously
reported in the College Street Journal. The desktop computers
located in the information commons use wired, not wireless, data
connections. Wireless access is available for those users who
choose to bring their own laptops to this area or who have checked
out a laptop from the circulation desk.
