Family
and Friends Weekend Set for October 22–24
Family
and Friends Weekend, scheduled for October 22–24, promises
plenty of events providing insight into the intellectual, social,
and spiritual opportunities that abound on campus. Formerly known
as Family Weekend, the weekend has been renamed to better include
students whose families are unable to attend. Activities on campus
include annual traditions such as open houses, hikes, sporting
events, plant sales, talent shows, concerts, canoeing, and religious
services.
Learning opportunities include presentations by the WEED Fellowship recipients
and Mount Holyoke Summer Research Fellows and several master classes, including “From
Procrastination to Persistence: Understanding the Motivation of College Students” and “Current
and Future Missions to Mars: Unlocking the Secrets of the Red Planet.”
Education is balanced with entertainment throughout the weekend, including “Street
Theatre,” singing, juggling, rapping, and acting by College theatre arts
students; “Families Dancing,” a concert by faculty, alumnae, and
other artists from the region; movies; and a haunted house for all ages, sponsored
by La Unidad.
