MHC
Welcomes New Faculty
The College welcomed an impressive group of
tenure-track professors this fall. Penny Gill, acting dean of
faculty and Mary Lyon Professor of Humanities and professor of
politics, said, “This splendid group of faculty members
brings a wealth of experience in the classroom, laboratory, and
performance spaces. We have chosen them out of national searches,
our first choices from large applicant pools. They have already
begun to make their mark on both our curriculum and students,
and on the larger community of the College.
We are very happy to have them join us.”
New faculty include:
Roger Babb, professor of theatre arts (long-term,
nontenured appointment)
Robin Blaetz, associate professor of film studies
(previously a visiting professor)
Claudia Chierichini, assistant professor of Italian
Rie Hachiyanagi, assistant professor of art
Martha Hoopes, Clare Boothe Luce Assistant
Professor of Biological Sciences
Alicia Sasser, assistant professor of economics (coming
spring 2005)
Amina Steinfels, assistant professor of religion
