United Way Campaign Update

Mount Holyoke faculty, staff, students, and emeriti rose to the occasion this fall, for the College's United Way Community Campaign. The annual fall employee fund drive, administered by the United Way of the Pioneer Valley, raised $33,538, with 167 College employees contributing to the drive, which supports nonprofit programs in local communities. Donations ranged from $5 to $2,640.

Anyone making a contribution by the end of October was eligible to win prizes offered by the College as a participation incentive this year. The lucky winners and their prizes were John Osgood, professor emeritus of psychology and education (brunch for four at the Willits-Hallowell Center); laboratory and animal care facilities director Deborah Piotrowski, Mary E. Woolley Assistant Professor of Chemistry Darren Hamilton, financial services accountant Julie Parks, and visiting professor of mathematics and statistics Harry Miller ($5 lunch gift certificates to Uncommon Grounds or Blanchard Cafe); Frances Merski, medical records and administrative assistant in health services (Mount Holyoke sweatshirt); Sarah Barrett, periodicals editor in communications, and Dawn Larder, senior administrative assistant in economics, Latin American studies, and European studies (MHC baseball caps); Erna Wiget, dining services checker (Mount Holyoke T-shirt); Debra Morrissey, assistant to the College librarian and director of LITS (botanic garden T-shirt); director of athletics Laurie Priest (stained glass sun catcher); Frances Perkins program director Kay Althoff ($20 gift certificate to Stems Flower Shop); archives librarian Patricia Albright (a free birthday cake); and Michelle Markley, assistant professor of geology, and Wayne Gass, dean emeritus of administration and business (reserved seats at the MHC Glee Club's performance of Vespers).
