Winter Parking Bans
The parking office would like to remind members of the community
that winter storms may necessitate snow parking bans. Such bans
prohibit parking in faculty/staff areas so that Facilities Management
can plow the lots and roadways. Vehicles that are left in these
areas once a parking ban is in effect will be ticketed and towed.
Snow bans are not typically issued during the workday unless the
College is closed. For instance, if the College were to close
at noon, the ban might be put in effect at 1 pm. In the event
that Facilities Management cannot clear the snow from the parking
lots and roadways by the start of work the day after a storm,
vehicles should not be brought back on campus. In such a case,
there might be a delayed opening. Managers will instruct essential
personnel on where to park on campus during a snow ban. When a
snow ban is issued, information will also be given on when it
might be lifted. If you have questions or comments, call x2514.
Glee
Club Auditions
Mount Holyokes
Glee Club welcomes new members (altos especially) to experience
a fabulous spring semester of singing. The Glee Club will host
the Spelman College Glee Club at MHC and perform in Atlanta (April
36) and with Harvards Glee Club, orchestra, and soloists
(April 27). It is best to try out before the end of first semester.
Contact Cathy Melhorn at x2306 or cmelhorn@mtholyoke to arrange
an audition.
Greetings
to Students from the Staff in the Office of Financial Assistance
It is that time of year again. Begin thinking about reapplying
for financial assistance for the next academic year. If you are
a domestic student who applied for aid last year, letters were
mailed to your campus post office box and to your home address
detailing how to reapply for financial assistance. Please be sure
to read the information carefully, follow all due dates, and be
in touch with the Office of Financial Assistance at x2291 or finaid@mtholyoke.edu
if you have questions. The office, which is located in Skinner
Hall, welcomes visitors Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm.
Oops!
Is the January Term Global Leadership Forum jinxed? Not only did
the College Street Journal report that the leadership course was
a noncredit offering when it is actually being offered for credit,
the Office of the Registrar mistakenly listed the class as meeting
every evening when it actually will meet Mondays and Wednesdays
for one section and Tuesdays and Thursdays for the other. Interested
students from both sections may gather for optional Friday and
Sunday presentations and films. No jinx, laughed the
classs instructor Pat Sewell. We simply like to test
global leadership candidates for their enthusiasm and persistence.
Some Global Leadership Forum spots may remain open, and Sewell
welcomes email inquiries at psewell@MtHolyoke.edu until the registrars
deadline of December 31.
