Field Hockey Triumph

Mount Holyoke's field hockey team claimed the ECAC Division III New England Championship November 19 with a 1-0 win over number one seed Clark University. The Lyons, who had been seeded third, had been defeated twice by Clark earlier in the season. Mount Holyoke swept this year's regional championship, earning a 1-0 win over Gordon College in the first round, a 2-1 victory versus Southern Maine in the semifinals, and the 1-0 clincher over Clark. Goalkeeper Elizabeth Wishart '03 was named tournament MVP. This marks the first ECAC Championship title for any Mount Holyoke team. The Lyons finished the season with a 19-4 record, their highest winning percentage yet.
