Internships
Located in the Pattie J Groves Health Center, extension 2256. Office hours 9
AM-5 PM, Monday through Friday.
Applying to the Program
The October 10 deadline for applying to participate in the internship
programs has been extended indefinitely.
Summer Internships
Of special interest to minority students in physics, including women and
especially African-Americans: The University of Pittsburgh Undergraduate
Research Program, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has a research program in areas
including astrophysics and physics for students who have completed two
semesters of college and are willing to consider a three-summer commitment with
the University. Stipend: $850 to $1,000/month, room and board provided, June
2-August 11. Deadline: February 1. See Weekly Calendar binder for more
information.
Baylor College of Medicine Smart Program, Houston, Texas, seeks students
for medical and research training through a ten-week summer program in
biomedical research laboratories. Stipend: available but amount not specified,
dorm housing available at a reasonable cost, and transportation assistance
possible. Deadline: between January 1 and February 1. See Weekly Calendar
binder for additional information.
The National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) Research Training Program,
Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC, is looking for interns. The NMNH
houses the most extensive and valuable natural history and anthropological
collections in the world consisting of more than 120 million specimens of
plants, animals, fossils, minerals, and human artifacts. Stipend: $1,250,
transportation allowance and housing will be provided. Deadline: February 1.
University of California, San Francisco, is offering a research
training program this summer. Ethnic minorities and women are particularly
encouraged to apply. Students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Deadline: February 1.

Many awards have January and February deadlines. Check the listings on the
fellowship bulletin board (ground floor, Mary Lyon Hall) for exact dates.
